(i will put pictures up later....they aren't on this computer but i figured i should get this posted SOMETIME before the end of july haha)
Well I finally have a spare second so I can blog about the 4th!
Saturday we woke up fairly early and went to the parade. It was really fun. They threw candy out to the kids, passed out chocolate milk, had free hot dogs, and lots of fun floats. Some of my favorites were the Broulim's cart (HUGE cart that drove. It was awesome), the lawyers that danced, the car wash workers that danced to the car wash song, and the one that said "If you are reading this thank a teacher, if you are reading this in ENGLISH thank a veteran." Only in Rexburg could they get away with something like that....
After the parade it was still a little chilly so Juston and I went on a bike ride up to the school gardens. It may not be far away, but HOLY COW that hill is killer. I was dying by the time we got there. Beach cruisers aren't really that great for going up large hills. (Nor are my lungs or legs...) We parked our bikes at the entrance of the gardens and decided to walk through and actually notice the pretty landscaping. (We've both walked through there millions of times but hadn't ever taken the time to notice any of it) As we were sitting on a swing at the other entrance a security guard told us we had to leave. We were confused and asked why because we thought they were always opened. He said they were, except that there was a moose! He showed us through some of the trees and sure enough, there was a moose! We still had to go get our bikes so we had to go up and around to get them. But when we got to the bikes, THE MOOSE WAS RIGHT THERE!!! It was so awesome. It was seriously maybe 100 feet away. MAYBE. Juston hurried and took a picture and we left. Definitely one of the highlights of my day!!
When we got home it was warmer so we headed down to Rigby Lake. We had a bbq with some friends and had hamburgers, potato and pasta salad, and 4th of July cupcakes. Nobody but Juston and I got into the lake. It was really cold at first but felt really nice after a minute.
That night we headed down to Idaho Falls to watch the firework show. It was definitely a good one. I will be going again next year for sure.
But, the weekend fun didn't stop there. Sunday night we went up to Mesa Falls and had a campfire dinner with some friends. We made huge tinfoil dinners and smores. YUM. Late that night two of the couples left and two of us stayed the night. In the morning we packed up and headed to Yellowstone. I have lived here for three years now and hadn't been to Yellowstone. Pathetic I know. It was BEAUTIFUL there. We saw LOTS of wildlife (buffalo, elk, eagles, hawks, deer....maybe some others??), and of course, Old Faithful.
On our way home we took the scenic route and went through Jackson. I hadn't ever been there either, and quite frankly....why the heck is it so popular?! It wasn't even that great. We did have some really yummy BBQ dinner but had the worst service ever.
It was such a fun weekend. Definitely the break we needed to get through the last few weeks of school.
