When we got here neither of us had jobs. It was nice to have some time to do nothing after graduation. However, it was still pretty stressful. We looked and looked for a job for Juston. We were given names and phone numbers to multiple people to call or talk to. He also went to a little job fair thing our stake does once a week. He got a lot more names at that and started calling them the next morning. One place in particular sounded the best to us because he could work full time and possibly get benefits. So he tried calling, but he didn't have a lot of luck. The location he called said they had just hired someone but to send his resume and they'd send it to the main hiring people. We thought this would be a dead end. Well, it wasn't. Thankfully Heavenly Father knows what we need and has lots of people to help get things done. That same night after calling we went to a pack meeting for Tevin. I was talking to someone about looking for jobs and they casually mentioned that someone else in our ward had a brother who owned a lot of physical therapy offices. It ended up being the same place Juston wanted to work at! And on top of that, she was at the pack meeting! I talked to her that night and she said she'd call her brother for us in the morning. Well, it all worked out and he was able to get a job at one of the locations!! He has been working for a few weeks now as a physical therapy tech and seems to really like it. Hopefully when we move into our own place it will be enough money for us to live on. (We have only gotten one paycheck so far and don't really know what all of our expenses will be in our own place yet.) He really likes the hours - MWF 8-6:30 with a half hour lunch, and TTH 10-3 with no lunch. He seems to like most of the people he works with and always comes home happy - which makes me happy! I love that he is doing something he likes. In November he will be up for review and will then be eligible for benefits and possibly a raise, so we'll see!
I have started working part time for my dad's cousin Aaron. I drive around and take pictures of houses he has appraised. It is a nice, easy job. However, it uses a lot of gas (which eats up a lot of my paycheck) so we are still debating if it's worth it or not.
Other than our jobs we are just waiting to see if we get approved for Medicaid (they need to HURRY UP!) and getting ready for the baby. We stayed at my aunt Katrina's house while they were out of town for a few weeks, but we are now at my parents. We got Slate all moved out of the room (mostly) and our stuff moved in. We rearranged the room so it feels a little more like it's ours. We also brought in a dresser for the baby, a bassinet, and a glider. We still need to fix up the dresser and glider before the baby gets here though. (Both came from DI, but have lots of potential) I thought living at my parents would be really hard on us, but it really hasn't so far. No, I don't want to live here forever, but it isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Everyone is really good about giving us space when we need it. It's cramped, but working out. I am so grateful we are able to stay here until we can figure out more permanent housing!
Oh, and Juston was originally signed up to take a class at CSN as a pre-req for graduate school. However, we found out it wouldn't work as a pre-req. Dangit. We now will be applying in another year. This was a hard decision to come to for us. We felt it was the right choice, but almost everyone else disagreed. We know we need to go to school and get it done, but right now we feel that this is the right path for us. No, we aren't excited about being super poor for longer, but it'll be ok. Really, what's one more year? We can do this!
