Setting up the Christmas tree

We set up the Christmas tree last Monday for Family Home Evening.  And boy - was it quite the event! It started off great.  Everyone got along, we had fun, and everything seemed normal.  We made Jackson's ornament - a hand and footprint put into a little frame thing.  As we were finishing we made some super yummy hot chocolate.  But then everything changed. Ha. My mom discovered that the tree stand was leaking water.  It wasn't leaking just a little bit - it was leaking a LOT.  The rug and garbage bags that were under it were all soaked through to the wood floors.  We wanted to make sure it was actually cracked before we went to the store and bought a new one.  Slate and Juston picked up the tree and my mom grabbed the stand out.  And sure enough the stand was leaking.  Well, then we didn't have a stand to put the tree in while we got the new one (the old one was taken out to the trash).  So the options were to either make Slate stand and hold it or figure out a way to lean it against the window.  Slate opted for the window option.  The boys carried it over to the window and then pushed the chest up against it to hold it in place.  It was quite the scene I must say!  Juston and I went to WalMart (why not Target right by our house you ask? Oh, I don't know either...) to get a new stand.  We set the tree back up and all was right in the world again ;) Ha.  It was an eventful night to say the least.  Oh, and we finished it by Jackson puking all over me.  But that's another blog post!

this is out of order....but putting ornaments on the tree

haha - when we were doing the handprint I accidentally got it on his nose. His hands were MUCH harder than his feet.

He didn't exactly like doing his handprint

All done!
