I love our little Primary class. We teach the kids that are 6-7 years old and normally have 6 kids in our class. They are VERY active kids. Sometimes that is really fun and sometimes it is really hard. Today was a more fun day. Sharing time was well, crazy. The Activity Day Girls did a BINGO game so just use your imagination as to the craziness that was all the 3-7 year olds playing BINGO with the microphone turned up too loud.
As I'm sure you can now imagine class was a little out of hand from the get go. We always talk and let them tell us anything they want that they did that week. I love that they are starting to get excited to tell us what they did (when we first got this calling they would say, "oh nothing" or "played with a friend"). This helps them to get out a lot of their wiggles and stories they would normally want to tell in the middle of the lesson. We were able to keep them fairly calm for a while and the lesson went really well actually. It was about following in Jesus' footsteps. In the middle we always go for a bathroom and water break to break up the sitting still and so we don't have them asking a million times if they can go. While we were in the hallway I had the grand idea that we should play follow the leader around the church. (you were supposed to play this game in the lesson anyway) It was perfect. They were allowed to be somewhat crazy (just not run and had to stay between Juston and I), and it went right along with the lesson! When we were done we came back in and finished the lesson in a calm and spiritual way. It was perfect (as perfect as a Primary lesson can be).
It's nice to feel like we had a successful lesson and we didn't even have to bribe them with candy!
